Fire & Flow: A Kundalini-Inspired Yoga Class in Popoyo
Start your day with Fire & Flow — a ritual that blends Kundalini kriyas, breathwork, and fluid Vinyasa movement to awaken your energy and clear the mind. Expect intentional heat and heart-opening asanas, followed by a grounding flow to soften the body and create space for clarity. We close with a gentle vagus-nerve neck massage in savasana to soothe and reset your nervous system.
Come sleepy, leave soaring.
Taught once weekly in Popoyo, Nicaragua at Magnific Rock, this class offers something different from a typical ocean-view yoga session. It’s part energy activation, part meditation training, and part strength-building flow — all set against the backdrop of the Pacific.
What Is Fire & Flow?
Fire & Flow is an introduction to kundalini yoga and breathwork.
The first half of class focuses on kriyas — specific breath and movement sequences designed to awaken energy and prepare the body for meditation.
You’ll practice:
Sniff-and-throw breaths
Breath retention
Engaging mula bandha (the energetic lock between the pelvic floor muscles)
Sending energy upward toward the third eye
Each kriya is typically held for about two minutes. It’s normal to feel lightheaded or intensely energized — that’s the nature of kundalini work. You’re always encouraged to pause, regulate, and re-enter when ready.
The goal isn’t perfection. It’s awareness.
The second half of class transitions into a vinyasa-inspired flow. We build heat, move intentionally, and integrate the energy created through breath into full-body movement.
Right before savasana, we turn up the fire just a bit — then soften completely.
Depending on class size and timing, students may receive a brief vagus nerve neck massage to help deepen relaxation and support nervous system regulation before closing.
Who Is This Class For?
Fire & Flow is for:
Anyone curious about kundalini breathwork
Beginners looking for guidance
Experienced yogis wanting to deepen their energetic practice
Surfers wanting mental clarity and focus
People ready to move through old identities and into something more aligned
Modifications are always offered — both for physical postures and breath intensity.
You are encouraged to go at your own pace. The faster and stronger you engage the breath, the more energy you may generate. The slower you move, the more grounded the experience may feel.
There is no “right” level — only your level.
What Makes Fire & Flow Different in Popoyo?
Most yoga classes in Popoyo are ocean-view vinyasa, surf stretch, or slow flow.
Fire & Flow introduces something deeper: conscious breathwork as a gateway to altered awareness.
Students often report:
Feeling euphoric
Greater ease in meditation
A clearer mind for surfing
Heightened focus
A grounded but empowered state afterward
This is an altered state of consciousness — without substances. Just breath, movement, and intention.
It’s a powerful reminder that your body already holds the tools to shift your energy.
